Olivia Dreams and Drag Race Down Under Season 4
Season four of the successful drag competition franchise, RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under is currently streaming on Stan.
Over the course of the season, 10 drag performers will compete for the coveted crown and the title of “Down Under’s next drag superstar.”
The first to be eliminated, Olivia Dreams, 26, was the first Wellington-based queen to compete on the show.
In an interview with Gay Sydney Australia, she spoke about the experience of making it onto the show, the origin of her drag name, and who she thinks is the shadiest queen on set.
How was the experience of being on Drag Race Down Under? How does it feel to have made it onto the show?
It’s been absolutely amazing to have the experience to be on Drag Race Down Under and join the Drag Race family – a literal dream come true if you will. Being the first queen from Wellington is an absolute honour and I’m so proud of being able to showcase who I am to the world.
I don’t think anything really prepares you for something as big as Drag Race – I spent hours rewatching seasons to get a better idea of what to expect but honestly, as soon as I stepped into the Werk Room on that first day I felt like it all flew out the window!

How has the experience of being on Drag Race Down Under changed you?
It was truly a life-changing experience, the chance to be part of such a historic season with Michelle as the main host and alum queens returning to judge/mentor us as well- absolutely iconic if you ask me.
Being around such talented drag artists as well has helped me to propel myself forward in so many ways- notably makeup. But that’s part of the reason I wanted to go onto Drag Race, to challenge myself, put myself in an uncomfortable position, so that I was able to grow and learn and up skill myself – nothing like a bit of trauma to do that lol.
I’m also a lot more confident in who I am as a drag artist and as a person, really taking on board the moment that [Kween Kong] and I had on the runway.
Who was the shadiest queen on set?
Oh, that’s a hard one cause I think we were all shady to each other at points. I think the most naturally shady (sorry sis!) would have to be Nikita Iman. Sometimes she would just come out left field with some shady comments that left us laughing plus have you seen her confessionals?!
What is the origin of your drag name?
The origin of my name is a play on “I’m Living your Dreams”, if you say it really really fast. As cliche as it sounds, my name came to me in a dream!

What was your first time in drag like?
Terrible! I had the confidence of Beyonce while looking like Jay Z, but everyone starts somewhere, right? Chunky brow block, unblended makeup, tiny lips, thirsty wig.
Sometimes I look back at those pictures to remind myself of how much I’ve changed, even from when we filmed till now I’ve changed so much, it’s crazy!
Is there anything about you that people are surprised to learn?
I think the craziest thing people learn about me is that I grew up on a dairy farm and used to be a dairy farmer for a few years before moving to the city.
I obviously don’t give off dairy farmer vibes anyway. I guess people just are surprised someone as talented and gorgeous as I used to do that job!
