How was the experience of being on Drag Race Down Under? How does it feel to have made it onto the show?

Down Under was like going to summer camp except the camp councillors are drag queens and instead of kayaking you get bitch slapped by a tiny woman from New Jersey. As a huge fan of the show, it has been beyond a dream to be on. It’s like a reverse version of the ring, I’m the haunted girl with unmanageable hair crawling INTO the TV.

How does it feel to have made it this far in the competition? What would winning mean to you?

I can’t believe that I’ve made it to the end of the competition. The sheer level of talent on display in this season really kept me on my toes, results were being decided on very thin margins and one false lash could have meant curtains for me. Winning this competition would be an honour. To have my specific brand of drag (gutter trash *complimentary) celebrated by the franchise would validate every poor decision I’ve ever made.

How has the experience of being on Drag Race Down Under changed you?

In the superficial way of seeing myself on television and realising, I need to close my mouth, absolutely. Beyond that, I feel it has deepened my love of this weird queer folk art. As a drag queen, you spend your life chasing attention, but now that I have, a lot of it, I find it difficult to sit in it. I am trying to find time to celebrate the wins and the feeling of pride.

Are you surprised by your fellow Top Four?

There were so many contenders this year I would have struggled to have told you who I thought I’d be seeing at the end. I knew from the second I saw Vybe that she’d be there on the last day, but aside from that I really couldn’t have told you.

What was the biggest surprise of the competition?

The biggest surprise of the competition this year was the camaraderie. I think we all expected a lot more reality TV antics, but instead, it was a lot of crying and mutual admiration.

Who was the shadiest queen on set? Details?

We were all rotted.

What is the origin of your drag name?

Lazy Susan is the name of the woman I killed. As the victor of our battle royale, I assumed her identity and polyester wardrobe.

What was your first time in drag like?

Emerging from the death pit of the battle royale I donned the wig of the slain and began my new life. We got vodka red bulls and danced the night away.

Is there anything about you that people are surprised to learn?

I think people are usually surprised to learn that I’m a Virgo and that I killed another drag queen with my bare hands and now wear her clothes on television.
